Russia on Friday introduced the expulsion of diplomats from Sweden, Germany and Poland, accusing them of participating in unlawful protests final month in opposition to the jailing of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny.

The overseas ministry stated in a press release that Moscow thought-about the actions of the diplomats unacceptable.

Responding to this, German Overseas Minister Heiko Maas stated on Friday that there shall be a response if Russia doesn’t rethink this step. “Russia’s resolution to expel a number of EU diplomats, together with an worker of the embassy in Moscow, is by no means justified and is additional damaging relations with Europe,” Maas stated in a press release.
